Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 2026
Hot Coupon Box is committed to full transparency with our visitors. This Affiliate Disclosure explains how we earn money, how that relationship affects what you see on the site, and why we believe affiliate marketing aligns the interests of shoppers and publishers when it is done honestly.
What is an affiliate relationship?
An affiliate program is a marketing arrangement in which a merchant (such as an online store) pays a small commission to a publisher (such as Hot Coupon Box) when a visitor reaches the merchant through a special tracking link and subsequently makes a purchase. The commission is paid by the merchant out of its own marketing budget; it does not increase the price you pay at checkout. The cost to you is identical whether you click through Hot Coupon Box or visit the merchant directly.
How Hot Coupon Box participates
Hot Coupon Box participates in affiliate programs with many of the merchants featured on this site. When you click on a "Get Code" button, a store name, an outbound link to a merchant, or a coupon listing on Hot Coupon Box, you may be redirected through an affiliate tracking URL. If you complete a qualifying purchase within the merchant's attribution window (typically one to ninety days), Hot Coupon Box may earn a commission from that sale.
We work with multiple affiliate networks and direct merchant programs, including but not limited to GoAffPro, Refersion, Impact, ShareASale, Awin, CJ Affiliate (formerly Commission Junction), Rakuten Advertising, FlexOffers, Skimlinks, and individual brand-run programs. Different merchants use different networks; we do our best to use whichever channel offers the best partnership terms.
What this means for you as a shopper
The most important thing to know is that affiliate commissions cost you nothing extra. The price you see at the merchant is the price you pay regardless of how you got there. The commission is funded entirely by the merchant's marketing budget, and the merchant has decided that paying publishers is a more efficient way to acquire customers than running broader advertising.
When you use Hot Coupon Box, you are effectively redirecting a portion of the merchant's advertising spend toward an editorial team that vets codes, removes broken offers, and keeps the directory current. That redirect costs you nothing and helps fund work that benefits other shoppers.
Does this affect what we recommend?
Yes and no. We will be honest about both sides.
Where it does not affect our coverage: We do not allow commission rates to determine which merchants make the cut for our directory, how we rank them in search results, or which deals we highlight on the home page. We do not accept payment to feature a particular code, we do not write fake positive reviews, and we do not bury lower-paying merchants out of view.
Where it inevitably does affect us: Like any business, Hot Coupon Box needs revenue to operate. That means we have a strong incentive to feature merchants who run affiliate programs, because those are the merchants we can earn from. A merchant that refuses to work with any affiliate network is unlikely to be on our site, simply because we cannot sustainably cover the cost of maintaining their listings. This is a structural reality of free, ad-free coupon directories. We mention it here so you can factor it into how you read our coverage.
We also tend to invest more editorial time in merchants who run reliable programs with reasonable commission rates, simply because we can afford to. We do not believe this leads to dishonest content, but it does mean our coverage is denser for some categories (fashion, beauty, home goods) than for others.
Our commitments
- We never publish a code we know does not work. Commission would not change this.
- We never invent fake discounts. If a code says "20% off", that is what the merchant actually offers.
- We never recommend a merchant we know to be dishonest. If we learn a merchant has a pattern of bad practice, they come off the site regardless of how much we earn from them.
- We disclose affiliate relationships. This page, the disclosure language in our footer, and many of our links use the "nofollow sponsored" attribute as required by FTC guidelines.
- We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy.
FTC compliance
The United States Federal Trade Commission requires bloggers, publishers, and influencers to disclose material connections with the brands they promote. Hot Coupon Box complies with the FTC's guidance on endorsements and testimonials by maintaining this dedicated Affiliate Disclosure page, including a brief disclosure in the site footer, and using the "nofollow sponsored" rel attribute on affiliate links as appropriate. If you believe any of our disclosures fall short of legal requirements, please write to support@hotcouponbox.com and we will correct it.
How affiliate tracking works technically
When you click an affiliate link, your browser is briefly redirected through the affiliate network's tracking server, which sets a small cookie on your device identifying Hot Coupon Box as the referring source. If you complete a purchase within the cookie's lifetime (commonly one day to ninety days, depending on the merchant), the network attributes the sale to us. We then receive a commission as part of the merchant's monthly payout cycle. We do not see your name, your payment details, your shipping address, or any other personal information through this process. We see only an aggregated commission amount per merchant.
Opting out
If you prefer to shop at a merchant without contributing an affiliate commission to Hot Coupon Box, simply visit the merchant directly by typing their URL into your browser. The product, the price, and your shopping experience will be identical. We will not be credited for the sale, but you will not be charged anything different. We mention this option so you can shop in the way that feels right to you.
Questions
